It's getting close...

It's almost finished!  It should be finished by the end of this coming week, beginning of next week. Carpet, drywall repairs, columns, sod/grass/landscaping, painting front door, uncovering basement bath rough-in, etc.  Then we will walk through early next week before we close on 4/28.

Granite is in.  Exterior lights are on.  Concrete driveway, sidewalk and front porch have been poured.
We still have a list of things we're not happy with.  A few I am planning to send to our Project Manager Monday, the rest will be brought up at our final walk through before closing.

Lots of concrete poured!
View of the cul-de-sac from the garage.  (With kids already playing in the driveway.)
Mudroom.  They've uncovered the hardwood so I insisted everyone remove their shoes :)
Powder room.
Partial view of great room and kitchen.
Stairway with stained handrail.  Again, half walls to be removed upon closing.  Still kicking myself for not getting that upgrade from the beginning :(
Sitting Room.  Not sure what to do about the chandelier in here yet.
And we have water for the ice maker!
1st floor office, carpet to come.
Dining Room for our new table & chandelier!
Another kitchen picture with granite.  Island to be built after closing.  Notice the drywall repairs that need done.  I requested they not put up the little 3 inch backsplash of granite since we want to install our own backsplash immediately.  Well apparently the guy doing it cut his finger the job prior and bled all over the work order telling them not to install the backsplash :o  So now they're going to have to fix this.  Better them than me!
Front porch.  Columns still to come.  Door needs painted still as well.
This is in the bonus room.  I don't really understand how a wall can get that uneven, but I am bringing this to his attention Monday morning.
This is the upstairs hallway/  Again, the "hook" at the end will probably drive us crazy forever, so I am also bringing this to his attention Monday.

In terms of decorating and actually getting the house move in ready, we bought the refrigerator. Home Depot will be out this week to measure for blinds.  I've got a few leads for granite distributors.  Our dining room table is almost finished.  I'm trying to decide on what chairs to put wit it.  I've decided to hold off on a rug in there.  I do want a rug for the great room sooner rather than later.  I still need the ceiling fan, some end tables, and accent chairs.  I'm really waiting mostly so everything can go directly to the new house instead of having to be moved.  I called and have gas & electric, water & sewer, and trash all started.  We also made a last minute decision to change auto/home insurance back to Progressive after a few years away.  All of our paperwork is complete with NVR Mortgage.

Sneak peak of our dining room table that is almost finished!
Chandelier that we finally decided on for above our new table!
Samsung fridge we ordered from Lowes.

Rate Locked

Quick update.  We just locked our mortgage at 3.75%!  I've done lots of math, including algebra to figure out what was best for us.  Either way, when we started this process in December we were estimating a 4.25% rate, so I'm ecstatic with this.

It's only a 45 day lock so nothing better slow us down! :)

Can't wait to see the house tomorrow with drywall and brick!

A pretty uneventful week

Week 3 proved to be pretty uneventful, at least from this untrained eye's perspective. We've had quite a bit of snow and cold temps too though.
They did get the dirt filled in around the foundation and some other plumbing/sump pump type stuff done.  The beams were set and 2 huge framing packages delivered.  They have yet to poor the basement floor because of the cold temperatures.  Plan is to start framing Monday, but we're supposed to receive a few inches of snow, so not sure if that will happen or not.  If it does, then we should be under cover by the end of the week!

Filled in dirt around foundation as well as some plumbing stuff :)

View from the street.  Note the framing packages on the left and right.

We also spent the day getting our current house packed up and our POD loaded. Found a 3 month promotion so planning to have everything stored until May 15.  We should close before then but we'd like to have the island complete and a few other odds and ends done before moving in. Closing for our current home is set for Feb. 25.

Trying to fit this house into this POD.

POD is FULL!
Almost forgot, got the call from NVR this week just to update us on rates and said they're at 3.75% right now which is exciting. We were anticipating 4.25+ last month.  We can't lock until we are within the 90 day window per our project manager.  We are probably within that window, but until the framing and roof are on, he's most likely not going to tell us that.  So we're waiting to get the go ahead from him to lock.  I'm planning to contact our current mortgage lender to see what their fees and rates look like as well.

NVR Approval

Still nothing much happening.  We did get our approval from NVR for our mortgage, so that's a plus, but it was never a doubt :D
Our current house is pending, so that too is a plus!

My mind is for sure overflowing with stuff to do that I really can't do yet!  So I'll share my thoughts here and maybe that'll help my mind slow down :)

Starting to look for ceiling fans for the rooms and this is what we're planning:
42" low profile for all 3 bedrooms
Bonus Room - 52" Low profile, option #1
Bonus Room - 52" Low profile, option #2

Great Room - 52", option #1, my least favorite
Great Room - 52", option #2, ok
Great Room - 52", option #3, my favorite but I can't find it in stock anywhere!

I'm talking to someone about building us a farmhouse table for the dinning (morning room), this is what I am thinking:
I like the gray color with our black floors.  Then a bench on 1 side and some fabric/vinyl chairs on the sides.  We're thinking an 8' table will work well in that room as well as fit us.

And wouldn't this "gather" sign look great (bigger) on our dining room wall???

We'll also need bar stools for the island, so I need to go do some hunting.  Not sure what I'm looking for knowing we'll have a 2, 4, & 6 year old at move in time

Speaking of island, still not sure what to do.  Do the exact same white cabinets and granite or do something contrasting???

Then just yesterday my mind started thinking about the office and how to make it work for 2 people!  So we'll need a setup with 2 desk areas.  Heading to Pinterest for that one!

Pre-construction meeting next week...
